Films were first shown in Little Witley in 2008 with trial showings of Mama Mia and Kinky Boots. These early forays into film projection were highly successful and following a successful funding bid to the National Lottery, straightforward audio and projection equipment was purchased and in 2009 films started to be regularly shown during the winter months.
Since then on average seven films are shown each year usually starting in September/October and finishing early May. We have always been part of Little Witley Village Hall management committee; originally self named as Little Witley Film Society we renamed ourselves Little Witley Films in 2017. Newer and more sophisticated equipment has been added both to the film projection setup as well as the Village Hall A-V set up; the film projection equipment enhancement was the result of a very generous grant from the British Film Institute.
Films shows were suspended during Covid and we have restarted our regular programme earlier this year (2022) with some films at irregular periods during the tail end of the lockdown phases. We are generously supported by Arts Alive who help subsidise film licences for film showings in rural communities in England and Wales.
